For this sustained investigation piece I wanted to create something that was fantasy like but felt real. I decided to design an image of a man feeding origami birds. First I chose a background of a man who was feeding pigeons. I went back and forth with multiple different versions but I thought this one emphasized the origami birds the best. Next I started taking different pictures of origami for my "birds" but I decided to use different types of PNG versions because it looked less pixilated and more coherent with the background. I changed and adjusted the hue/saturation/skew of each one. I then edited out the birds of the original background by using the layer mask tool and a grass background. Next I began arranging the "birds" onto the page (this took a few days to perfect). I then added shadows to each component so that it matched the light source from the background. My last step was adding color to the stairs and mans hat - this made the image look purposeful and made the origami birds pop!
